For many years we have used the Kingsway Centre in Middleton-in-Teesdale as Checkpoint 3 on the full winter Spine and, more recently, Checkpoint 1 on the winter Challenger North.

Due to the centre changing ownership, it is no longer available to the races.

Instead, the Middleton Checkpoint for the Spine, Challenger North and MRT Challenge North will be Langdon Beck YHA. To find it, you depart from the Pennine Way at Saur Hill Bridge, grid reference NY 854301, and walk 600 metres to the hostel at NY860304.

For reference, it was 800 metres from the Pennine Way to Kingsway, so minimal impact on the overall distance.

As always, the route off the Pennine Way to the Checkpoint will be signed by the Team and its status as the Curry Capital of Checkpoints will be not be diminished.

We are in the process of updating race packs and the website with this information. Team leaders will share new accommodation information for volunteers as soon as contracts are signed.
