General information on the Official Spine® Training Programme.
If you are considering entering the Montane® Spine® Race or Montane® Spine® Challenger, our Official Training Programme provides an excellent setting to learn new skills, meet other competitors and gain insights in to the challenges. Throughout 2016 we have a number of training events which cover a variety of subjects and our annual training weekend.
During this training weekend you will receive instruction and advice from members of the Spine Safety Team, former athletes and information from our event medical team. Elements of this programme are designed to simulate the race as closely as possible. This is a comprehensive programme that provides many useful insights and has been an effective tool for many finishers since its inception.
This event is scheduled for the weekend of 14-16 October 2016. The event will take place at Hebden Hey Scout Centre (Hebden Bridge).
The total cost of entry for the training event is £110. With a non-refundable deposit of £50. See terms and conditions for further information.
Accommodation, food (at the accommodation, not on course), camping fees, maps (if different to Pennine Way route), course support (monitoring, medical, mountain safety) and transfers if required from the nearest local train station.
As this event simulates elements of the race you should bring all of the compulsory equipment required for your race. Further information will be distributed prior to the event.
This event is open to individuals who wish to participate in the Montane® Spine® Race/ Challenger and individuals looking to participate in a future event.
As this is event is more closely monitored than the Montane® Spine® Race/ Challenger, our entry requirement differs from the races. Please note that this is a training event which is intended to help prepare you for a future challenge. Expect it to be tough, at times.
In partnership with Ranger Expeditions, we are excited to offer excellent training opportunities throughout 2016.
Our emphasis is on great value and quality training with Spine instructors whose focus is upon your skills development, confidence, aspirations and enjoyment. So that you arrive at the start line with the best possible preparation.
The courses are progressive. Each session is a module in its own right, giving you the choice to follow the whole programme, or dip in and out depending upon your previous experience. The courses are open to current Spine entries, returning racers and those who are considering entering. The sessions are also open to all ultra athletes who are looking to broaden their range of skills.
